As of Monday, I am officially 29 weeks. It feels as if it's getting so close which has me quite scared. After all the comments of you're going to have one big baby, it is starting to scare me. I'm really hoping he'll stay under the 8 lb mark and most definitely under the 9 lb mark (Can you actually imagine birthing a baby that large, ouch). But either way I do believe I will keep the newborn diapers sealed until after he's here. (Yes, we do have those babies that are born already wearing 1's). My fingers are also crossed that the gestational diabetes screen comes back good. I should hear something this Friday, which just happens to be my birthday. That would just be horrible new to get on such a special day. So, everyone keep your fingers crossed.
As for Mr. Maddox this is what he is upto this week:
At 29 weeks pregnant, your baby is almost 17 inches tall now (nearly as tall as he or she will be at birth), and close to three pounds (a weight that will likely more than double — and may even come close to tripling — by delivery time). His or her wrinkled skin is smoothing out as more fat is deposited under the skin surface. This fat, called white fat, is different from the earlier brown fat that your developing fetus accumulated. Brown fat is necessary for body temperature regulation while white fat (the fat you have, Mom) actually serves as an energy source. Which explains why your energizer baby feels so…well…energized! Space in your baby's living quarters is now at a premium, so you'll be feeling jabs and pokes from elbows and knees mostly. But those kicks will be more vigorous than before (and also less erratic) because your baby is stronger and excitedly responding to all sorts of stimuli — movement, sounds, light, and that candy bar you ate half an hour ago.
